Much later that night as the stars twinkled in the midnight sky, Ruben was awoken by a rumbling sound and a dashing flash of light. He sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes.
He couldn’t believe what lay before his eyes.....
Right in front of him sat his rocket with flashing lights. The door opened wide and from his bed he could see the digital timer flashing the number the ten. Ruben jumped out of his bed and ran into the rocket. The door slammed shut and the digital timer began to count down.
10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1!
A red button flashed and flashed and he found his finger drawn towards it. He pushed the button hard and ‘whoosh!’ he felt the rocket blast off into the sky.
Ruben peered through the round glass window. Beneath, he could see everything. He could rooftops with chimneys, rooftops without chimney. He could see the flat square roof of his newly built school and the long metal pole at the top of the monkey bars in the park.
The further the rocket went up into the sky, the smaller the houses got below. It was amazing.
Ruben was exited but he was also very frightened. Where was this rocket taking him? Would he meet aliens? Would they eat him? Would they crown him? Would they be scared of him?,..
